About the Doctors

Christopher Coulis, D.C., M.S. is a graduate of the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic. Prior to receiving his Doctorate, Dr. Coulis received a Master of Science degree in Pharmacology from the University of Toronto, Canada and a Bachelor of Science degree from Providence College, RI.

Dr. Coulis received his clinical training at the Rhode Island Spine Center, an affiliate of Alpert Medical School of Brown University, and the Physical Medicine department of the Hartford Medical Group, an affiliate of Hartford Hospital.  Both settings allowed him to work in collaboration with internists, physiatrists, neurosurgeons, orthopedists and physical therapists.

Dr. Coulis' clinical focus is on the conservative management of patients with musculoskeletal conditions, particularly those affecting the spine and pelvis and sports injuries.  He is dedicated to integratiing chiropractic care with medical services to most effectively reach successful treatment outcomes and patient satisfaction.  

Dr. Coulis is also on staff at the VA Medical Center in West Haven, CT in the department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.  Additionally, he holds a faculty appointment at the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic in the department of clinical sciences.  He is a member of the North American Spine Society (NASS), American Chiropractic Association (ACA) and the American Chronic Pain Association and has authored numerous articles in peer reviewed scientific journals.



Alfred Furtado, D.C. is a graduate of the University of Bridgeport
College of Chiropractic. Prior to receiving his Doctor of Chiropractic degree, Dr. Furtado received two Bachelor degrees from the University of Rhode Island.

Dr. Furtado received his clinical training in the Physical Medicine
Department at the  Hartford Medical Group, a Hartford Hospital Affiliate. This environment allowed him to work in concert with several medical disciplines, including surgeons, to effectively manage musculoskeletal conditions.

Dr. Furtado utilizes the most clinically relevant documented procedures
in determining and conservatively managing musculosketal conditions.
Focusing on the spine and pelvis, he combines both manual and
rehabilitative techniques to achieve and restore normal pain-free function.  His aim is to foster integration of his services with the best of traditional medical therapies.  

Dr. Furtado is a member of the American Chronic Pain Association and is a Fellow of the American Back Society.   He is also on faculty at the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic.
